Hive Mind Healing: Nature's Path to Wellness

Vision:

Hive Hills envisions a serene space where individuals and groups can access the restorative power of nature to support their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Through stewardship of the land and a commitment to holistic healing, Hive Hills offers a sanctuary for growth, connection, and renewal.

The farm's operations are inspired by the philosophy of Norwegian Forest Farming (skoglandbruk), which focuses on sustainable and holistic integration of forest resources and agricultural production. This approach focuses on:

  • Agroforestry and Resilience: Integrating forest components (trees, shrubs, and forest floor production) with livestock and crops to create a resilient, diverse ecosystem and maximize land utility.

  • Minimal Intervention: Prioritizing management practices that mimic natural forest processes, reducing the need for external inputs, and focusing on the long-term health of the land.

  • Harvesting Forest Byproducts: Utilizing non-timber forest products (like berries, mushrooms, herbs, and sustainably harvested wood products) alongside traditional agricultural goods.

Private Practice:

The farm will eventually be home to Hawthorn Hive, the private practice of CEO and Owner Kari L. de Boer, LPC, ATR, RYT, an EAGALA Certified Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist, Art Therapist, and Counselor. Hawthorn Hive offers individual telehealth therapy and in-person seasonal group workshops that integrate Humanistic therapy with creative and somatic healing practices in a natural environment.

Products and Markets:

Byproducts from the animals kept on-site (and potentially forest-foraged goods like medicinal herbs or specialty mushrooms) will be sold at local farmers' markets and wellness spaces, emphasizing the natural, sustainable, and high-quality nature of items produced within the integrated forest-farm system.
